And We Are Live!

June 4, 2026

Well, this is it—my first official blog post. If you’re reading this, zikomo (thank you) for stopping by! Launching a blog feels surprisingly daunting, though I suppose it’s a bit silly to say that when I’ve helped tackle things as big as water infrastructure projects. But hey, we all have our learning curves!

On behalf of all the founding members, I am thrilled to finally bring this organization to life. We’re committed to being honest, transparent, and living by the Umunthu motto: “I am, because we are.” We’ve already seen firsthand that when we work together, we can turn massive challenges into huge wins.

We’ve seen the impact of that teamwork in Kasiya. Here is a note from the Head Teacher at Kasiya CDSS that really says it all:

“After experiencing challenges with unsafe water for more than ten years, the school is now benefiting from safe and potable water through the successful establishment of the water project at the school. This development has greatly improved sanitation, hygiene, and the general welfare of learners and staff. Currently, the project is supplying more than 3,000 litres of water per day, which is being used for various essential school activities.”

It’s hard to put into words just how much “clean water at the tap” changes a day, but seeing it in action—with over 300 girls at the hostel, plus teachers and community members, finally having easy access—is everything. It serves as a reminder that every initiative, no matter the size, makes a ripple.

Thank you so much for visiting. Stay tuned for more updates, and while you’re here, I’m curious: what are you most excited to see in our upcoming gallery? Let us know!

I AM, BECAUSE WE ARE.
